The CJ Ramstad & North Shore State Trail run approximately 146 mile from Duluth all the way up to Grand Marais, MN. The trail is cut through some of the most rugged country in Minnesota, this natural trail will give you a great wilderness experience. You will find a lot of wildlife along with great views of Lake Superior, many area rivers & waterfalls along with several scenic overlooks. During the spring, summer & fall months the trail is open to hikers & mountain bikers. During the winter months it is a designated snowmobile trail and is connected to Minnesota’s vast snowmobile trail system.
The trail was named after CJ Ramstad, also known as Mr. Snowmobile. CJ was a passionate trail rider, journalist & photographer that worked tirelessly to ensure these trails were open for all to enjoy, the North Shore Trail was his favorite in all of Minnesota and for good reason.
