Minnesota has over 1000 miles of designated ATV & OHV trails throughout the state with most of the trails located in the northern half of the state. OHV trail riding is a wildly popular activity in MN with numerous clubs and other small groups combining their love of the outdoors and trail riding into the warmer summer & fall months. Minnesota has close to 60 designated OHV trails to choose from and they can be found in many of the popular travel and tourism destinations in Minnesota.
The trails are open throughout the spring, summer & falls months, however sometimes temporary trail closures do happen due to weather, area events, logging or road work. To get up to the minute details and updates on trail closures you can subscribe to the MN DNR Email List to get updates on a variety of topics.
All OHV’s must be registered with the State of MN, non-residents can get a trail pass to ride on state or grant-in-aid trails through the MN DNR. For more information on the rules please download the OHV/ATV Rules & Regulations PDF.
